Love Me is a comical 2.5d action, puzzle platformer about a boy named Warren who falls in love with his best friend, Erica. He is stuck in the infamous friend zone. In humorous fashion, Cupid appears to help Warren escape the friend zone. Warren enters Cupid鈥檚 manifestation of the friend zone and fights metaphorical enemies with Cupid鈥檚 crossbow. The enemies represent real-life deterrents to Erica鈥檚 heart. Killed enemies turn into objects that help Warren progress in the friend zone. As Warren rises above these obstacles, little by little, he captures Erica鈥檚 heart.
Love Me was a project that took four months of hard work and fourteen dedicated developers. We chose to work on this project because it was creative, unique, and funny. During the project, we met and overcame the technical challenge of designing and programming a mechanic that turns enemies into helper objects. The art direction took a life of its own, and we created well over a thousand art assets that embodied the surreal and stylized art style. In the end, we created an hour of diverse gameplay and four fantastic visual themes. We learned to take an inspired idea to fruition by devising a production plan and working together under a unified vision.
