Perkins to Offer Houston Lay School of Theology on Saturday, Feb. 20

Professor Jack Levison to present "Holy Spirit 101" at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

DALLAS (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â) – John R. (Jack) Levison, the W.J.A. Power Professor in Old Testament Interpretation and Biblical Hebrew at Perkins School of Theology, will be presenting “Holy Spirit 101” at the upcoming Houston Lay School of Theology.

The day-long workshop, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (5501 Main Street), is designed to provide participants an opportunity to engage a leading topic of Christian theology alongside a Perkins faculty member.

“Holy Spirit 101” will give attendees the opportunity to search the world of the Spirit in the Old and New Testaments, where the Spirit hovers, fills, rushes, clothes, rests, and is poured out upon people. By studying the Old and New Testaments in this day-long workshop, you will learn to expect the unexpected of the Spirit, to prepare for the unprecedented, and, just as important, to discover the unlikely presence of the Spirit where you may least expect it—in the grit and grime of everyday life.

Advanced registration of $65 – which includes the cost of the course, lunch and a signed copy of Levison’s book 40 Days of the Holy Spirit – is available through Monday, Feb. 15. First-time attendees can receive a $25 discount, and continuing-education credit (.5 CEU) is available for an additional $25. All registration information is available at .
