Biography
Don Shelly joined the Cox School of Business in 2010 and is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Finance and Director of the Kitt Investing and Trading Center. Before coming to Cox, he served as a Lecturer in the Finance Department at the Eller College of Business at the University of Arizona where he taught the undergraduate and graduate investments classes.
Prior to joining the University of Arizona, he spent 20 years in the fields of middle market mergers and acquisitions, valuation, succession planning and family business continuation consulting.
Shelly teaches both the BBA and MBA student managed portfolio practicum courses. He has also taught the MBA Managerial Finance and Portfolio Theory and Asset Pricing classes and the BBA Alternative Assets Honors class.
He is the recipient of the 2015-16 Don Jackson Outstanding Teaching for Finance Award, the 2014-15 and 2012-13 C. Jackson Grayson Endowed Faculty Innovation Awards, the 2013-14 MBA Distinguished Teaching Award, the 2013-14 Eugene T. Byrne Endowed Faculty Innovation Award, the 2015-16, 2014-15, 2013-14 and 2012-13 BBA Outstanding Teaching Awards, and the 2012 Delta Sigma Pi Distinguished Faculty Award.
Shelly received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Denver and his MBA from the University of Michigan where he was the recipient of the Clorox Company Fellowship.
