As a teacher, I frequently encourage habits of process and reflection, and I love learning from students! I enjoy seeing learners engaging in inquiry and critical thinking about their own interests whether it’s reality tv or economics. As for my own research, I have long been interested in the role of silence in different contexts and communications, which has subsequently influenced my instruction as I strive to foster multiple kinds of participation and discussion. In my free time, you might find me fighting the urge to overwater my plants, walking my dog (appropriately nicknamed The Fluffopotamous), or mindlessly engrossed in one of Netflix’s top 10.
Areas of Interest
British Romanticism and the long nineteenth century, women’s issues. Silence Studies and their intersections with First-Year Writing Pedagogy and trauma-informed teaching.
