I am interested in exploring the kinds of roles the environment can play in past and contemporary ChicanX narratives. I examine these roles and attempt to draw new interpretations out of seemingly innocuous intersections (i.e. masculine archetypes in borderland narratives or indigenous representation in Mexican cinema). I use a variety of methodologies across disciplines but I mainly read ChicanX narratives using a combination of Eco-critical and Eco-narratological theories. As a Chicano, I take pride in being able to exist within transnational spaces. This also means that there is a responsibility to be conscious of how such movements can affect the environment, figuratively and literally speaking. Ultimately, I'm hoping to engage with these new interpretations in scholarship that could be of a use for future ChicanX scholars.
