Ruth Ann Elmore, Assistant Director
Ruth Ann Elmore joined the William P. Clements Center for Southwest Studies in 2002 and was named its assistant director in 2012. She received her MA in art history from °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â and as well as her BFA in studio art and BA in art history. Elmore's research centers on mid-20th century American art. Her current project focuses on the American Precisionist artist Charles Sheeler, specifically his painting "Conversation: Sky and Earth," part of the "Power Series" commissioned by Fortune Magazine for its December 1940 issue. Before beginning at the Clements Center she worked with various art galleries and artists, later in public and private community organizations, handling publicity and media relations. At the Center, Elmore supports the fellows and their research, graduate students, public and private events, manuscript workshops, annual symposia, attends academic conferences, and handles publishing, financials, and public relations.
