2024 Symposium: Rahimi and The Future of Text, History and Tradition

About

For this symposium, we seek to bring together top Second Amendment and constitutional law scholars, as well as experts on domestic violence, to unpack the Court’s upcoming decision in United States v. Rahimi and opine on crucial open questions concerning emerging Second Amendment doctrine. The aim of the symposium and journal issue will be to clarify how (if at all) Rahimi modifies the approach outlined in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, what the opinion means for the future of Second Amendment law, and where the decision leaves federal and state efforts to address the deadly intersection between guns and domestic violence. This discussion is especially important for us to host in Dallas, as the events of Rahimi took place a short drive away in Arlington, Texas.
