Paul Schmidt
Paul Schmidt has taught for 36 years and currently teaches undergraduate wind method classes at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â. He actively consults in several area school districts as a middle school band specialist and clinician.
Schmidt, a native of Lubbock, completed his Bachelor of Music Education at Texas Tech and began his teaching career in San Antonio’s North East ISD. After four years in the field he moved to North Texas earning his master’s degree in music education from the University of North Texas. He served as band director in Grand Prairie, Carrollton and Colleyville before retiring in 2016. An advocate of wind band and music education, Schmidt has served on the board of the Dallas Winds and still advises on education initiatives. Honors include induction in Phi Beta Mu, the Swan Award for working with Gifted and Talented and Carrollton/Farmers Branch Teacher of the Year, 2009. Professional affiliations include TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association), TBA (Texas Bandmasters Association) and TMAA (Texas Music Adjudicators Association).
