Ted Soluri is principal bassoonist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2015. He was previously principal bassoonist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra from 2004 to 2015 and the Santa Fe Opera from 2007 to 2015.

Soluri has made numerous solo appearances including Mozart’s Concerto for Bassoon in Bb major, KV. 191; Carl Maria von Weber’s Bassoon Concerto in F major and Andante and Hungarian Rondo; Ferdinand David’s Concertino; Richard Strauss’ Duett-concertino for clarinet, bassoon, strings and harp; Michael Daugherty’s Dead Elvis, Jurien Andriessen’s Concertino, and Haydn’s Sinfonia concertante.

In 2014, Soluri performed Marc Neikrug’s Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra as part of a co-commission with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra and the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada.

As part of a commission with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Soluri will be premiering a concerto written for him by Jerod Tate in winter 2020; The Ghost of the White Deer is based on a Chickasaw folk tale.

Soluri has performed recitals and concerti at various International Double Reed Society conferences at Ball State University, The University of Oklahoma, Arizona State University and Lawrence University.

In 2017, Soluri was thrilled to release his debut CD, Sempre Libera. The recording includes opera arias played on the bassoon and stemmed from Soluri’s great love of the voice and the operative repertoire specifically. The recording has received high praise and is available on Amazon, iTunes and Spotify.

Throughout his career, Soluri has attended many music festivals including the National Repertory Orchestra, the National Orchestral Institute and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute. In 1994, he was privileged to work under Sir Georg Solti at Carnegie Hall as a member of the prestigious Solti Orchestral Project. In summer 2005, Soluri was invited to play as principal bassoonist for three weeks at The Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He is also a regular performer with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival.

In addition to teaching at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â Meadows School of the Arts, Soluri has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Soluri has also given master classes at Florida State University, Eastman School of Music, Ball State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Lawrence University, the New World Symphony and the Glickman-Popkin Bassoon Camp.

Soluri received his bachelor of music degree from Florida State University and his master of music degree from Cleveland Institute of Music. His teachers were John Hunt, Jeffrey Keesecker and David McGill. In addition to his bassoon teachers, Soluri credits soprano Maria Callas as one of his greatest musical inspirations. He plays Fox bassoons and is a Fox Artist.
