OIT Technology News: January 2024 Edition

With new equipment and new relationships forged across campus, Guillermo Vasquez and OIT's IoT lab have been hard at work to bring data points once thought ephemeral into the realm of data-driven research.

You can request services and support for IT and several other departments through STABLE. When you log in, you will notice several new forms, options, and new communication enhancements.

This latest edition focuses on the evolution of cybersecurity over the last decade, from the improvements the campus has made for physical security to °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â's cybersecurity and how OIT has adapted.

We have continued to expand and grow participation in our MOS certification program, and with this past year, we have several milestones to celebrate, including successfully complete over 5,000 Microsoft certifications, adding several new courses requiring certification, and most of all, one of our °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â undergraduate students received the top certification score for the state of Texas.

In the second part of January and running through February, Phase II of the Microsoft Teams Migration Project will begin with the exchange of desktop phones for headsets for any employees who requested one but were not able to get one as part of Phase I. We will also be deploying the Jabra speaker puck as part of this Phase.

XWiki has been identified to be the replacement wiki solution for Wiki.°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â. The XWiki Implementation Project will oversee the migration to this new wiki environment with the timeline for launch in 2024.

We have heard back from some employees about what the next phases are for the the project and we would like to update the campus on the progress and timeline.
