Math Placement Tests

In order to enroll in Business Calculus (MATH 1309) or Calculus I (MATH 1337), students must take the corresponding placement test.

Students who do not pass the test will enroll in Pre-Calculus for Business (MATH 1303)  or Precalculus Mathematics (MATH 1304) to prepare them for Calculus in a future semester. Review the table and instructions below on current math placement tests required for enrollment.

To enroll go to the  and select Placement Tests. Click the "Sign in with °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â single sign on" button.  Click the blue "Enroll" button. Log into Canvas, and you will see the "Placement Tests" course added to your Canvas dashboard.  Enter the course, and follow the directions to take your placement test.

MATH 1309

This non-credit placement test assesses a student’s proficiency with the Pre-Calculus concepts necessary for Business Calculus (MATH 1309). Students must pass this test to enroll in MATH 1309; students who do not pass will need to take a Pre-Calculus course, MATH 1303 or 1304, as a pre-requisite.

Any student with plans to enroll in MATH 1309 (only needed for Business majors or Economics majors/minors)

A student can also enroll in MATH 1309 if they have:

1) C- or better in MATH 1303 or 1304;

2) score of 4 or 5 on the Pre-Calculus AP test; 3) Pre-Calc transfer credit (including dual-credit);

4) Calculus °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â, AP, or transfer credit (AP credit and repeat rules apply)

 

MATH 1337

This non-credit placement test assesses a student’s proficiency with the Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry concepts necessary for Calculus I (MATH 1337). Students must pass this test to enroll in MATH 1337; students who do not pass will need to take the MATH 1304 Pre-Calculus course as a pre-requisite.

Any student with plans to enroll in MATH 1337 (mostly STEM majors but also accepted by Business and Economics)
