About
Dr. Anderton earned her bachelor’s in psychology and business administration from Utah State University, her Master’s in Counseling from Idaho State University and her Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Counselor Education & Supervision (CACREP Accredited). Dr. Anderton has clinical experience working with adolescents and adults in numerous settings, which include: non-profit community agencies, county and state behavioral health hospitals, private psychiatric hospitals, and private practice. Dr. Anderton is trained in EMDR Level 1, Gottman Method Couples therapy, Level 1, Psychological First Aid, and Critical Incident Stress Management (Group Crisis Interventions). Dr. Anderton has published research on LGBTQ+ identity development and identity conflict and utilizing video games to teach cultural competency. She has additionally provided professional presentations on numerous topics related to LGBTQ+ populations, increasing recruitment of diverse students, aspects of cultural competency in counseling, and ethics.
