About
Dr. Alzada Benton, LPC-S is a psychotherapist specializing in couples counseling, stress/ anxiety management, depression, maternal mental health, and family therapy. Counseling Supervision Services are also available with a focus in cultural humility and Relational Cultural Theory. Dr. Benton has worked in various settings including private practice, juvenile detention centers, community based mental health agencies, education service centers and schools. She received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University, a Masters of Science in Education and Allied Profession in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton and her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Wilberforce University in Ohio. She has been counseling since 2001 and supervising LPC-Interns since 2010 in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has experience in program development and philanthropy, including assisting with the development of a girls residential treatment facility. Dr. Benton theories and approach to therapy stems from Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy & Narrative Therapy. When she is not working time is spent volunteering with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and spending time with her family and friends.
