About

Kathy received her Master's degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas in 1992 and her PhD in Counseling from UNT in 2003. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1994. She currently works in her own private practice in McKinney, Texas. She is trained in and has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Kathy also worked as a counselor for 6 years at a Hospice in Durant, Oklahoma, with people who were terminally ill and their families.

Kathy is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a treatment identified by the American Psychiatric Association as an effective treatment for trauma. She is trained in Hakomi, a body-centered psychotherapy that utilizes mindfulness and awareness in bringing about change in clients. Kathy is also a Registered Yoga Teacher and she uses breath and meditation techniques in her counseling work. Kathy served for 6 years as an Assistant Professor at three universities including Texas A&M University-Commerce, the University of Houston-Victoria, and North Georgia College and State University. Her experience at each of these universities has added valuable dimensions to her skills as an educator and as a clinician.
