The Dallas Noyce Scholars Program

The Dallas Noyce Scholars Program provides scholarships to college students who want to become middle and high school math teachers in the Dallas area.

receive $30,000 for Junior and Senior years at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â, with additional merit- and need-based scholarships available. During that time, students earn a double major in mathematics and education and begin teaching in a local school, with a commitment to continue teaching for four years.

Students are selected for the Dallas Noyce Scholars Program based on their commitment to a teaching career and desire to teach math in a high-needs school. Some Noyce Scholars come to °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â as transfers and others are current °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â undergraduates.

In addition to financial support, other benefits include:

  • Community-focused coursework enabling them to connect with the Dallas area
  • Field experiences in the communities in which they will teach after graduation
  • Training in working with students for whom English is not their first language
  • Cohort mentoring and community building with other students in the program

All applicants are eligible to apply for the Charles-Butt-Scholarship as well.

After completing coursework, Noyce Scholars work as student teachers or teacher interns in Dallas schools under supervision of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â faculty. After completing their student teaching or internships, Noyce Scholars are certified to teach in Texas public schools, and the program assists with placement options within Dallas ISD.
