Behavioral Intervention Team

(The BIT)

Purpose

The BIT exists to address faculty, staff, and student behavioral concerns which are not supportive of the University’s central function and are not addressed by an existing agency of the University. Included in, but not limited to, the list of behaviors are threats, aberrant behavior, violent or perceived violent behavior, repeated threats of suicide or violence against others, etc. The BIT does not preempt any other University department in performing its duties in enforcing the law or managing situations. The BIT is also responsible for developing and reviewing University policy that address such situations and behavior, as well as educating faculty and staff regarding students of concern and the referral process.

Meeting Schedule

The BIT generally meets on a weekly basis primarily during the Fall and Spring terms, but may also be called to meet at other times as necessary.
