Erik Schlicht
Ph.D. student, Department of Anthropology
Research Interests:
Erik’s research focuses on the relationship between land use and wildfires in the American West. By studying the impacts different forms of land use had on wildfire regimes in the past, he seeks to contribute to modern wildfire management practices.
Erik earned a B.A. in anthropology and political science and a B.F.A. in theatre in 2020 from the University of Rhode Island. After graduation, he spent two years traveling throughout the United States as he worked various volunteer and archaeological projects for federal and private sector sponsors. Two summers spent in California as part of this work introduced him to the wildfires of the American West and motivated him to pursue research to mitigate them.
