Favorite thing about °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â: The vibrant sense of community. The campus buzzes with energy and collaboration, creating an environment where students feel connected and supported. There is this blend of historic charm and modern facilities that provides a dynamic backdrop for both academic and social experiences. As a history major myself, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â’s commitment to interdisciplinary learning that encourages collaboration across diverse fields is remarkable too, as it fosters such incredible intellectual growth and innovation. There is such a sincerity to the care here that it builds this strong sense of belonging, and to have that combined with rigorous academics and abundant opportunities for engagement is what truly makes °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â a unique and enriching place to pursue higher education. It all feels so familial and fantastical here!

Favorite restaurant near campus: The Biscuit Bar. I am a big breakfast food fan, and anytime I can find a solid egg sandwich or French toast, that is where my heart is! The Biscuit Bar is the place for some solid morning eats!

Favorite place on campus: I enjoy sitting at the top of the steps of Blanton Building, especially after taking a walk onto or around campus. There is something special about listening to the water fountains whisper a sense of calm while students walk to class or their Residential Common, connecting on all sorts of profound and playful conversations, or seeing professors catch up with each other over lunch, or just taking in the view of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â experience in real time.

Favorite place in Dallas: My favorite place in Dallas has to be Fair Park. It is a remarkable place that has sprawling cultural and athletic facilities, like the African American Museum of Dallas, the only one of its kind in the Southwestern Region devoted to the preservation and display of African American artistic, cultural and historical materials. It has one of the largest African American Folk Art collections in the U.S. You’ll also find the Children’s Aquarium, where I’ve chaperoned some cool experiences with my kids, Texas Discovery Gardens, and of course, the iconic Cotton Bowl Stadium. You’ll never be bored there, and it has a lot to explore and discover!

What I recommend during your stay in Dallas: Dallas Arborteum, a stunning 66-acre oasis that offers a serene escape from the city hustle. With its beautifully manicured gardens, seasonal floral displays and picturesque views of White Rock Lake, it’s a perfect spot for leisurely strolls or peaceful reflection. The arboretum’s diverse plant collections and seasonal events, like the Pumpkin Village in the fall or the summer concerts, provide a delightful experience year round. Its blend of natural beauty and tranquility makes it an ideal retreat and a cherished gem of Dallas.
